The resort is currently under construction with five units completed that feature a beautiful blend of Minnesota’s rural lake country and resort living. Interval International has renewed its affiliation with the Grand Crowne Resorts in Branson, Missouri, which is itself a points based vacation club that includes three different vacation ownership properties in Branson. The resorts include the Surrey Vacation Resort, the Carriage Place at Surrey Vacation Resort, and the Grand Crowne Vacation Resort. At the Grand Crowne properties are complete timeshare properties with amenities that include swimming pools, fully equipped kitchens, in unit washer/dryer, hot tub, exercise facilities, and more.

The new Waldorf Astoria Orlando will be opening in October of this year and will have key amenities that will set it apart from its New York counterpart. It will have an 18-hole championship golf course created by course architect Rees Jones. The clubhouse will be completed and open for play on October 1, which is the same day the Waldorf-Astoria and the Hilton Bonnet Creek Hotels will open. Both properties are located close to the award-winning Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort.

The resort consists of just ten units that offer accommodations ranging from studios to spacious two-room apartments. All rooms have whirlpool baths or Jacuzzis, and give access to a health club and spa. There is also a beach bar and pool, a game and well-equipped fitness center and a café bistro on site. The Mimosa provides easy access to the nightlife of Miami’s South Beach and great shopping in nearby in Bal Harbour.

The new Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences at Kapalua Bay is the first resort in Hawaii to introduce a fractional ownership condo development on such a large scale. The resort is built on 24 acres and it encompasses nine buildings, each three to six stories high. Included are 84 fee-simple condos and 62 timeshare units. The timeshare units are being sold as fractional ownership condos, in which 12 co-owners share ownership of a unit, each owning a minimum of three weeks apiece.

As a positive indicator that the timeshare industry is weathering the economic recession, Bluegreen Resorts has announced that it is entering into an agreement to provide service and management at four timeshare resorts. The Parkside Williamsburg Resort, the Bluewater Resort in the Bahamas, the Soundings Seaside Resort timeshare on Cape Cod, and the South Mountain Resort in New Hampshire are now a part of the Bluegreen timeshare portfolio.

Bluegreen had been planning several major corporate changes when the economy plummeted and the credit markets dried up. The company was then forced to make cutbacks and changes, like many companies, but they are expanding again. For each of the resorts, Bluegreen will provide operations and management, select fee-based services including sales and marketing, risk management, and title and escrow. In some instances, Bluegreen timeshare will also be providing design and development planning, collections, and mortgage servicing, all on a fee basis. Through the arrangement, Bluegreen creates new income streams and adds four properties to the Bluegreen Vacation Club portfolio.

The Outrigger Laguna Phuket Resort and Villas in Thailand is scheduled to open in the fall of 2009. Outrigger Enterprises Group has been selected to manage the resort that includes a new luxury collection of residences, villas, town homes and apartments being developed by the Laguna Resorts & Hotels Public Company Limited. The resort is located on Bang Tao Bay on the northwestern coast of Phuket. When fully completed, it will consist of 309 two, three, and four bedroom units. The resort is upscale and many of the units will include their own private swimming pools. Widely recognized as Asia’s finest destination, this property is part of a 1,000 acre mixed-use tropical resort with five miles of pristine sandy beaches, six deluxe resort hotels, the Laguna Phuket Golf Club, spas, restaurants and bars as well as a retail shopping center.

There are three new properties located close to Cape Town that are now part of the DRI list of timeshare properties. The Peninsula Resort, Avalon Springs, and Wilderness Dunes all offer easy access to Cape Town and the pristine beaches of South Africa’s coast. The Peninsula Resort is situated on Cape Town’s magnificent mile. Avalon Springs has a luxury spa and a large pool area with giant waterslides, and the Wilderness Dunes offers a fully accommodating chalet-style units with easy access to a variety of watersports and the popular Wilderness National Park.

The Grand Solmar at Land’s End Resort and Spa, an exclusive vacation ownership resort in Los Cabos is scheduled to open in 2011. The resort will be a member of the Interval International Global Vacation Network.

The oceanfront resort is located next to the Arch of Los Cabos at the southernmost tip of the Baja California peninsula. The property will include 250 villas with views of the Pacific Ocean, landscaped gardens, and many more amenities.
