Shell Vacations has added Park Manor Suites in San Diego to its portfolio. As a result of Shell Vacation ownership, the resort will change its name to Inn at the Park. The chairman of Shell Vacations has indicated that this will be a signature location for its resorts. The property offers two dining outlets, is imbued with European ambiance and neo-renaissance architecture and features a combination of studio, one and two bedroom suites, ranging in size from 525 to 1,000 square feet, with 9-foot ceilings and large sage windows with postcard-picture views of the city below. Some units have balconies for enjoying the famed San Diego weather.

Acadia Village Resort has been forced into foreclosure by the city of Ellsworth, Maine. The city has been thrust into the vacation timeshare sales business after the resort developer and timeshare owners have fallen far behind on taxes for dozens of units. Beginning in April, Ellsworth officials began foreclosure sale proceedings on 66 timeshare units with each unit representing one week’s use of the specific property. Because of the way the resort was incorporated, Acadia Village requires city officials to collect one week’s worth of property taxes from the more than 2,000 partial owners. Timeshare owners represent about one-quarter of the city’s 8,000 property tax payers.

The Registry Collection has welcomed the Park Residences at the Crane in St. Philip, Barbados. The resort is the newest addition to the Crane Residential Resort, a AAA four-diamond property perched on a cliff overlooking world-famous Crane Beach on the southeast coast of Barbados. The vast majority of the 130 garden residences feature private pools, a lush tropical garden setting with rock walls accented by waterfalls, and roof terraces that offer complete privacy. The one and two-bedroom residences offer generous living space with the quality finishes. Lifestyle Holidays has opened its sixth resort. The Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club recently opened another upscale property along the north coast of the Dominican Republic in Puerto Plata. The new Royal Suites is located at the center of Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Resort and follows the Tropical, the Crown Suites, the Crown Villas, the Residence Suites and the Presidential Suites. The Royal Suites is made up of six low-rise buildings inspired by Mediterranean architectural style fused with modern features, accented by a wide swimming pool. Each structure houses deluxe and standard single and double bedroom suites that have king-size beds in the master bedrooms, separate dining and living areas, pull-out queen-size futon beds, flatscreen TV sets, cedar closets, and fully-equipped kitchens.

TThree Disney executives with Disney Vacation Club were terminated because of fees charged to new timeshare owners of the Aulani Resort in Hawaii. The resort opened on August 29, but according to a recent Orlando Sentinel article, all timeshare sales for the resort have currently been suspended. The three fired executives include the President of the Florida based company, Senior Vice-President and CFO of Disney Cruise Line and travel operations, and Director of Finance for Disney Vacation Club. It appears that the vacation club executives had calculated dues amounts so low that that they would not generate enough money to cover the resort’s costs.

RCI has added the Shining Star Vacation Club Xing Yao Shui Xiang Resort to its portfolio. RCI, a global leader in vacation exchange, announced it has expanded its network in Kunming, China through its affiliation with this resort. The property is located in the Jia Lize wetland and is within a mega upscale integrated tourism development that consists of more than 10,000 vacation accommodations with theme resorts, hotels, holiday villas and town houses, an equestrian club with a landscaped riding boulevard, an ecological wetland park, country-style fishing club, golf academy and driving range exclusively designed by Phil Mickelson, extensive lavender and sunflower fields, organic fruit and vegetable garden, meeting and conference facilities, and a myriad of retail and dining facilities

Best of 2010 Resort Opinion Poll has been announced in seven categories, which include Beach, Family, Spa, Ski, Golf, Urban, and Romantic. This poll was recently announced in the Developments Magazine issued by the American Resorts Development Association (ARDA) and conducted by a popular on-line vacation site. The winners are as follows: the “Beach” category goes to the Wyndham Bali Hai Resort on Kauai in Hawaii, the “Family” category goes to the Monarch Cancun Resort in Las Vegas, the “Spa” category goes to the Sedona Summit Resort in Arizona, the “Ski” category goes to Grand Lodge at Peak 7 in Colorado, the “Golf” category goes to the Ridge on Sedona Golf Resort also in Arizona, the “urban” category goes to the Buckingham Hotel in New York City, and finally the “Romantic” category goes to the Point at Poipu on Kauai in Hawaii.

Hyatt announces its first property in Austria. Hyatt Hotels has recently announced plans to sign an agreement to manage the Park Hyatt Vienna. Set to be located in the heart of the city’s famous First District, the Park Hyatt Vienna will be built within a historic building, opening its doors in 2013 to bring the trademark Park Hyatt luxury touch to the city. It hopes to become a central part of one of Europe’s key business and cultural destinations. The Park Hyatt Vienna joins a total of 13 other hotels in development worldwide and, upon opening, will become the seventh Hyatt hotel in Europe and its first property in Austria. .

Interval International welcomes Hotel Savoy on Madeira. The timeshare exchange company has affiliated Hotel Savoy on the Portuguese island of Madeira and it will include 246 timeshare apartments upon completion in 2014. All of the Hotel Savoy timeshare apartments will be air-conditioned, offer Internet access, and have ocean-facing balconies or terraces. One-bedroom apartments will have separate lounge and dining areas, a full kitchen and master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet. The two and three-bedroom lock-off apartments will be ideally suited to holidays with friends or family sleeping up to six and eight guests respectively. Studio units will have a kitchenette and a spacious lounge area.

Interval International has added the Peninsula Bay Resort in Bali as one of its members. The resort is under construction and is located on the waterfront of Nusa Dua and bordered by Benoa Bay. After the project is completed, there will be 65 one and two-bedroom units with sea-facing views ready for occupancy. The resort is blending contemporary Balinese architecture topped with verdant tropical gardens, to demonstrate an eco-friendly ambience. The new property is only five minutes away from the old Peninsula Beach Resort and a shuttle service will be made available so owners may visit both properties without difficulty. New amenities will include two restaurants, a swimming pool, an on-site spa, and three bars. Peninsula Bay Resort purchasers will be automatically enrolled as Interval International individual members, and be part of its upgraded membership program called Interval Gold.
