The Four Seasons at Desert Breezes Resort has earned an RCI Gold Crown status. Trading Places International just announced that resort has been awarded the prestigious RCI Gold Crown Resort property designation by RCI, the worldwide leader in vacation exchange. Gold Crown status means that a resort has attained high levels of excellence in resort accommodations, hospitality and member experience as measured by RCI. Located in Palm Desert, California, the property includes multiple lighted tennis courts and swimming pools among other amenities.

Tapestry Resorts Now Managing Eloquence Residences in North Miami

Tapestry Resorts is now managing the Eloquence Residences in North Miami. The new resort located in the semi-private island community of North Bay Village, is a socially conscious property that offers whole ownership, fractional ownership, and rental opportunities. Surrounded by Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, the property currently has 20 units with an estimated 42 unit available in the first quarter of 2012. Tapestry will provide full resort management services with on site management, reservations, rental sales and marketing, and concierge. Amenities at Eloquence include daily housekeeping, pool, jacuzzi, sports courts, putting green and state-of-the-art fitness center.

Mexico Poised to Break Tourism Records

Mexico is poised to break tourism records in 2012. Building on solid tourism numbers in 2011, the Mexico Tourism Board predicts 52 million tourists will visit Mexico in 2012. This follows a strong winter break season with hotels in many of the top tourist destinations, from Cancun to Los Cabos, seeing a significant increase in occupancy compared to last year’s winter break. The Mexican Ministry of Tourism reported that the number of air arrivals in December 2011 was up 13 percent compared to the same period in 2010. More than 1.07 million international travelers visited Mexico in the last month of 2011, a record for December. In addition to an increase of visitors from the US (10.6 percent) and Canada (9.1 percent), Mexico received significant year on year increases from Spain, Italy, Argentina, and France.

Honua Kai Resort and Spa Generates more than $54 Million

Honua Kai Resort and Spa generated more than $54 Million in sales in 2011. The Honua Kai Resort and Spa, the only new, whole ownership timeshare property on Ka’anapali Beach in more than 25 years, has closed more than 75 new home transactions in 2011. The property, located on 38 acres of west Maui shoreline, has quickly become a popular destination for both leisure travelers and potential homeowners alike. Since opening in 2009, the resort has sold and closed on more than 410 units resulting in more than $518 million in real estate sales. Purchases have come from residents of British Columbia and Alberta in Canada, and the western United States cities of Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.

Florida’s Timeshare Resale Accountability Act Makes Progress in State Legislature

Florida’s Timeshare Resale Accountability Act has made progress in the state legislature, having passed through the first house committee. Sponsored by a house representative and supported by the Florida Attorney General, the bill unanimously passed in the Business and Consumer Affairs subcommittee. The bill was amended in committee to provide for several changes, all of which will promote a healthy secondary market, and will benefit consumers who purchase timeshare advertising services. The legislation will require, among other things, timeshare resale companies to disclose all terms and conditions of their business offerings to the consumer, provide for a right of rescission for consumers to cancel a contract for resale services, and impose penalties on companies who continue their deceptive practices.
