It has a new package called Adrenaline Rush Guaranteed, which combines rejuvenation and wellness with exceptional service and stylish amenities. The Westin Riverfront Adrenaline Rush package starts at $319 per night and includes lodging for two in a studio suite, a $200 credit to Timberline Tours for a whitewater rafting adventure down the Colorado or Eagle Rivers or an off-road Jeep tour, two four hour bike rentals, two complimentary fitness classes at the Riverfront Club (including yoga, pilates, kickboxing, and body sculpting), and complimentary valet parking.

Starwood Vacation Ownership Expanded Sheraton Vistana Villages

Starwood Vacation Ownership has expanded its Sheraton Vistana Villages, located on the south end of world-famous International Drive in Orlando. The current expansion phase includes 200 new villas, a new swimming pool complex, a new recreation building that will house a second fitness center, game room and arcade, as well as an activities desk with sports, pool games and equipment. The Sheraton Vistana Villages is the second Sheraton vacation ownership property located in Orlando. The first property is the Sheraton Vistana Resort, one of the Orlando’s largest timeshare properties.

Interval International Website Addition and New Peninsula Bay Resort

Interval International has launched Interval Community; an on-line social network designed to provide its 1.8 million members of the Interval Network a platform to share their love of vacation ownership, travel, and social networking. It is live on IntervalWorld.com.

Peninsula Bay Resort is a new resort on Bali. It is also one of the newest Interval International properties and is situated on the Indonesian island of Bali. It is the latest vacation ownership property developed by British entrepreneurs, Roger and Alan Thomas, and is located on the waterfront of Nusa Dua overlooking the golden sand beaches of Benoa Bay. Upon completion, the purpose-built project will feature 65 one and two-bedroom units, all with sea-facing views. The resort is being built using contemporary Balinese architecture and is set within lush tropical gardens to create an eco- friendly atmosphere. The new property is just a five-minute drive from Peninsula Beach Resort, with shuttle service between the two, so that owners are free to enjoy the amenities at both properties. Other planned amenities include an on-site spa, swimming pool, gym, two restaurants, and three bars.

Legoland Florida Scheduled to Open Late 2011

Legoland Florida is on schedule to open in late 2011. Legoland Florida will be the world’s largest Legoland Park and is expected to bring Winter Haven back to it tourism heyday when Cypress Gardens was one of Florida’s leading attractions and the first official theme park built in the state of Florida. Legoland Florida is being developed on the site of the long closed Cypress Gardens.

Rosen Inducted Into Florida Tourism Hall of Fame

Harris Rosen has been inducted into the Florida Tourism Hall of Fame. Announced at the 43rd annual Florida Governors Conference on Tourism, the award was bestowed upon Mr. Rosen for his contributions to the industry. Among his contributions, he supported construction of the Orange County Convention Center, donated 20 acres of land to create and build the University of Central Florida’s School of Hospitality Management, he owns and operates seven properties in Orlando including the Rosen Shingle Creek, Rosen Plaza, and Rosen Centre.

Arthur Spector Companies Acquired Former Consolidated Resorts Group

Tahiti Village, Tahiti and Club de Soleil resorts were part of the Consolidated Resorts group of properties acquired. The Las Vegas headquartered company completed the acquisition of all of its timeshare inventory and operating assets of Consolidated Resorts, which had filed for bankruptcy in June 2009 when its major lenders had discontinued funding due to the effects of the credit crisis and the slumping economy. The closing of the sale from the bankruptcy estate is the first in a series of planned transactions that will result in the Spector family investing more than $30 million back into the local Las Vegas economy. The Arthur Spector Companies has been a leading timeshare resort developer in Las Vegas, Hawaii and Florida for more than 30 years.

Westgate Resorts and Wyndham Lay-offs

Economic Impact – Westgate Resorts and Wyndham Vacation Ownership, both Orlando-based vacation ownership companies have recently been caught in the nation’s credit crunch and have had to lay-off employees because of what they consider the “turbulent financial sector”.

Both Wyndham and Westgate employ thousands in the Orlando area. According to recent reports in the Orlando Sentinel newspaper, both companies are refocusing sales and marketing efforts on more credit-worthy consumers and will be decreasing timeshare developments in the fourth quarter.

Westgate Resorts is the seventh largest employer in central Florida with over 8,000 employees. Wyndham Vacation Ownership has about 3,000 employees in the Orlando area.
