The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club and the Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club have unveiled its first of its kind partnership. The two luxury destination clubs have forged a new exchange opportunity for the benefit of their members. This strategic alliance presents members of both clubs an expanding universe of extraordinary destinations that only they can provide. The collaboration allows Ritz-Carlton Destination Club members access to 17 Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club residences in North America. They include Scottsdale, Lake Tahoe, Aspen, South Carolina, Punta Cana, Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, Hawaii’s Big Island, the Turks & Caicos, and Mexico’s Los Cabos, Punta Mita and Puerto Aventuras. In return, Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club Members are able to convert their nights for use at 10 Ritz-Carlton Destination Club locations in Colorado’s Aspen Highlands, Bachelor Gulch and Vail, St. Thomas, Jupiter in Florida, San Francisco and North Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, and Abaco in the Bahamas.

The Hotel Hacienda La Purisima is now an RCI exchange timeshare property. Located in Ixtlahuaca, Mexico and just one hour from Mexico City, Hacienda La Purisima has 12 units complete with hardwood floors, a fireplace and a soaking tub. LaTour Hotels and Resorts, which offers personalized luxury hospitality management services for four and five-star properties worldwide, has announced it will manage Los Veneros Resort and Residences, located on the prestigious Punta de Mita peninsula along the northern coast of the Bay of Banderas on the Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. LaTour Hotels and Resorts will offer management of the Homeowners Association, concierge services, extensive residential services for owners, and a rental program and exchange opportunities. Los Veneros is an oceanfront resort and residential community currently comprised of 91 luxury residences in three buildings spread across 37 acres. The resort is scheduled to open in December 2010. Among the property features is a chic Beach Club with bar and grill, an oceanfront pool, recreational water sports and spa and health club facilities. The community also features a large reception and Discovery Center, lush gardens and walking trails.

The Velas Resorts Group in Mexico have topped the Expedia list for the top hotels in the world with the release of its Insiders’ Select 2010 list. The Grand Velas All Suites and Spa Resort was selected as the number one hotel in Nuevo Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. Sister-properties, Casa Velas Hotel Boutique and Velas Vallarta Suite Resort and Convention Center also made it to the top list. Casa Velas Hotel Boutique, an adults-only property, was named the number one hotel for Puerto Vallarta and is ranked on the worldwide list. The family-friendly Velas Vallarta Suite Resort and Convention Center ranked number five in Puerto Vallarta. To come up with the Insiders’ Select list, Expedia reviewed more than 114,000 hotels and resorts, giving each one a numerical score. These scores determine the ranking of each property and are completely independent of advertisers and partners. Only the top hotels with the highest scores made it onto the company’s top hotel list. Expedia Insiders’ Select list includes just the top 1% of all Expedia hotels and resorts. Properties included in the list were chosen based on value and quality, by millions of travelers and customers, and by company experts. The Velas Resorts Group has earned numerous prestigious international awards for its top-of-the-industry services and facilities. Among them are Conde Nast’s “Most Excellent Spa Hotel” and the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences “5 Star Diamond Award.”

The Sandos resort chain’s Caracol Eco-Resort and Spa is pioneering the “green” and “eco-friendly” movements among resort properties. The resort is located in Mexico’s Riviera Maya region, south of Cancun, and was originally built in the 1990s. The resort prides itself on the lack of manicured gardens and concrete areas.
